Sharon Hodges, LMHC, CMHS
Meet Sharon Hodges, LMHC, CMHS...
I am a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Child Mental Health Specialist with 20 years experience in the mental health field. I enjoy working with children (10+ years), adolescents, adults, seniors, families in conflict, and parents to effectively manage and/or overcome the difficulties they are experiencing.
My approach to therapy is best described as integrative and holistic (exploring the physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and cultural aspects as they relate to your health and wellness). I embrace a Person-Centered approach, in that I believe therapy is about growth and that people have a remarkable capacity for self-healing and personal growth when support is provided in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I draw heavily from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, but may also utilize principles from Psychodynamic Therapy and mindfulness-based practices. Additionally, I find meaning in exploring family systems and attachment styles. I incorporate a variety of techniques and interventions such as role play, positive reinforcement, and creative expression (in the form of puppets, art, music, and poetry).
My therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, and interactive (with a little bit of humor when appropriate). I view therapy as a collaborative process. Together we will explore and identify challenges you are experiencing and develop treatment goals designed to help you achieve the positive changes you are seeking. It is my hope that you experience therapy as a safe place to express yourself, accompanied by the feeling of being heard and understood.
