Meet Michelle Mathew, LMFTA...
Michelle Mathew is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. She is a graduate of Converse College and has experience working with teens, adult individuals, and couples on a range of presenting issues, from anxiety and self-esteem to communication and intimacy issues.
Michelle is a first-generation Indian-American and is passionate about making the therapy room a safe space for clients of all cultures and identities to express and define themselves. She is especially passionate about working with clients of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC identities and those with non-traditional family and relationship structures.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Michelle believes that even the best relationships can have their challenges. Her approach is strengths-based and focuses on uncovering hidden skills and social support. Using evidence-based and culturally-sensitive approaches from Solution-Focused Therapy and other Family Systems frameworks, she helps couples and families access their inner strengths to work through communication issues and increase their appreciation for one another. When working with individuals, she also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy to help her clients develop effective coping skills and define the future they want to have.
Michelle’s philosophy focuses on centering the clients as the experts on their own lived experiences. Through her sessions, she can help guide you through this experience in a way that allows you and your loved ones to live the best possible life.
