Meagan Narvaez, LMHC
Meet Meagan Narvaez, LMHC...
Meagan Narvaez is a queer Woman of Color from a Puerto Rican family. Meagan uses she/her/hers pronouns. She is also a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master's in Professional Counseling from the University of Georgia.
Development of connection, communication, and self-empowerment is the core of her work. Meagan aspires to learn from her clients as much as she aids them on their journey.
Meagan celebrates and enjoys working with Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) as well as LGBTQI+ individuals.
Meagan’s passions and specializations are within the realm of race, sexuality, gender, and pleasure. As a sex therapist, she wholeheartedly believes in pleasure activism––the idea that humans are not meant to live in a constant state of suffering. She uses this framework as a positive direction for clients to embrace and hold sacred what is pleasurable for them. Whether that's cooking their favorite meals, learning to say no, laughing with a dearly loved friend, moving their bodies, or having the best sex one can imagine.
More About Meagan’s Experience:
Meagan works with clients that have a combination of mental health, substance use, and physical health issues. She helps clients face a wide range of health challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, psychosis, meth, heroin, and alcohol use. Her role in your care is to help give you the skills to overcome those obstacles for a more meaningful life.
Person-Centered Therapy is the foundation of her therapeutic style. This means she makes space for her clients to come in as they are and accept them with empathy and unconditional positive regard. She sees people's values, struggles, and background––all the things that make them who they are and honor that. Meagan gives them room to accept themselves and progress toward their goals. From there, Meagan uses Relational Cultural Theory (RCT). RCT focuses on how issues of social justice and oppression shape our experiences and relationships. She incorporates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which gives clients practical skills for coping with distress and communication difficulties in various relationships.
Meagan is currently in network with Premera, Lifewise and most BCBS plans, as well as out of network for all other insurance plans at this time.
