Meet Gary Hole, Psy.D. Candidate, LMHCA, MA, BSEE, BSME...
Gary began his professional career as a design/project engineer after earning a Bachelor’s degrees in both electrical and mechanical engineering. During his 27 years of engineering work, he discovered a natural propensity for compassionately supporting others through their professional and personal issues. Gary gained knowledge about mental health, and his experience grew through involvement in volunteer human resources work and through participating as a lay counselor and teacher at his church. Gary realized he was naturally attuned to professional counseling as a second career.
Gary left the engineering profession to obtain a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA and and recently obtained his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology there. Gary completed three years of pre-doctoral internship training at Meier Clinics Counseling Center in Bothell, WA. Gary trained as an individual and couples counselor, in addition to working as an integral part of the clinic’s 3-week intensive partial hospitalization program. Gary is now practicing as a state Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (LMHCA). He is also a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
Gary works with anxiety, mood disorders (depression, bipolar), grief, relationship problems, career issues, character/personality disorders and addictions. Gary works with his clients toward the development of positive self-perception, self-actuated growth and maturity. Gary also has a particular interest in issues related to masculinity and spirituality. Gary works with clients 25 years of age and older.
Gary works in various modalities including individual, pre-marital, couples and group therapy. He applies an integrative and holistic (biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual) therapeutic approach to counseling. Gary believes that clients are optimally treated with an integrative approach that matches their uniquely complex emotional and physical needs. Gary integrates a combination of therapies: Cognitive Behavioral (i.e., thoughts/beliefs and behaviors/choices), Psychodynamic (emotional/relational wounding from life experiences), Object Relations (i.e., how people grow and mature in relationship with others) and Dialectical Behavior and Mindfulness (i.e., practically learning to observe, understand and manage self with respect to why they do what they do). All are applied with love and acceptance.
Gary has a lifetime of personal experience in the professional, relational, family and church world. He has been married to a wise and wonderful wife for 35 years and has raised two deep-hearted daughters who are happily married. Thus, he has an empathic heart to help others work out the trials and struggles of this world with a unique blend of broad practical experience and psychological training.
Gary accepts many insurance plans and private-pay.
